A report that has been proposed that suggests cutting police jobs saying only about 10% of policing tasks needed fully trained police staff. In response to this a spokes person from the police said “The other thing, don't forget, if we are not very careful we'll have people specializing in different bits of policing and we might not actually have the numbers of uniform officers we need” The report is suggesting that civil servants should be trained in some policing tasks.

Fabio Capello’s Reign Starts With a Victory.
Fabio Capello got off to a good start last night when England beat Switzerland 2-1 in an international friendly held at Wembly .England started well in the first half with Joe Cole delivering a clever pass to Jermaine Jenas who finished with ease. England went into the second half 1-0 up but this didn’t last long. Straight after half time Eren Derdiyok came back with a goal for Switzerland. But Steven Gerard set up Sean Wright Philips to score a great goal and give England back their advantage. The match ended 2-1 to England. Fabio has a lot of work to do to regain England their international status, but he has got off to a good start with the England squad and should be impressed with the second half of the England performance.

England Beat Kiwi’s in Twenty20 Clash

In cricket, England have beaten New Zealand by 50 runs in another strong performance, to secure a 2-0 series win. Captain and man of the match, Collingwood, won the toss and opted to bat after successfully defending their total in Aukland. England put out an unchanged side from the previous victory, yet New Zealand stated two changes. Paul Collingwood and Owais Shah put on a partnership of 102 runs that greatly contributed to the 193-8 total in Christchurch..
In reply New Zealand only mustered 143-8 in all, fate was almost sealed after six overs when 42-3 was all that the kiwi’s had on the score board. Ryan Sidebottom was the pick of an England bowling unit who played to impress, Sidebottom taking an impressing 2 for 19.
A strong start for England and if this good form continues, the remaining five twenty20 ties could prove no test for this England side.

International- Kids of Al-Qaeda

Al-Qaeda Kid’s Training Video

The forces of the United States and Iraqi army have issued a video which is said to contain Children under the age of 11 in some cases being trained in acts of terrorism and being armed by Members of Al-Qaeda.

The videos were found in December in a raid on a suspected terrorism cell hideout in the Iraqi Capital Bagdad.

The videos show footage of the kids brandishing guns, grenades and other harmful objects. It is clear to see that the kids were being trained up as insurgents, being shown how to swarm houses, and hi-jack vehicles.

It is said that the Americans released the footage to turn Iraqis against the terrorist organisation, however many are unsure weather the Video will turn Iraqis against Al-Qaeda or weather this will actually attract budding terrorists to the organisation.

In one scene a mock kidnapping was staged, where a captive was forced to kneel in the road with a pistol to the back of his head.

A US military spokesman says it does not look as if the children were forced into doing this and did it entirely on their own accord.

However the Iraqi defence ministry spokesman Mohammed al Askari
Insisted that the tapes were a sign of desperation and were only made to raise funds from ransom.

Bank 'Open All Hours'? - not if 5-year-old can help it!

An HSBC bank was discovered unlocked outside working hours yesterday by a five-year-old. Oliver Pettigrew wandered off while his parents were withdrawing money from the ATM outside the branch in Easingwold, North Yorkshire. He was able to gain access to the branch through the front door with no problem. Finding himself walking around in one of the largest banks in the world, Oliver hadn’t heard an alarm whatsoever. His father, Daniel Pettigrew, immediately contacted the police, once he realized what his son had found. Oliver has been greeted and thanked by police, and HSBC rewarded him with his own bank account credited with £10.

An HSBC spokeswoman says "there was a malfunction in the door catch, and that once opened, should have alerted the police." The branch was supposed to be closed for the weekend, but despite this fact, wasn’t aware that it hadn’t been shut properly. Daniel said "If it wasn’t for Oliver, that door could have been left open until Monday." HSBC apologizes for this fault and hopes to do something about it.

I chose to focus on a simple story rather than a complicated story with alot of opinions.

Tax Payers Money Going Down The Tubes

The collapse of private firm Metronet is going to cost tax payers £1.7 billion.
Due to mismanagement and over budget works, the firm Metronet went bust and had to abandon their current works on the underground. When Metronet declared bankruptcy, they left behind a hefty bill that TFL have to cover. The government is now giving TFL £39bn to finish off what Metronet where unable to do. This budget will also go towards the Crossrail scheme for the 2012 Olympics. The rest of the money will go towards the expansion of the current rail and bus services. Yet again the government has to look towards the taxpayers for large sums of money. This is also not the first time taxpayers have had to make up for government losses as seen with the Olympic budget.
