Fabio Capello’s Reign Starts With a Victory.
Fabio Capello got off to a good start last night when England beat Switzerland 2-1 in an international friendly held at Wembly .England started well in the first half with Joe Cole delivering a clever pass to Jermaine Jenas who finished with ease.
England went into the second half 1-0 up but this didn’t last long. Straight after half time Eren Derdiyok came back with a goal for Switzerland. But Steven Gerard set up Sean Wright Philips to score a great goal and give England back their advantage. The match ended 2-1 to England. Fabio has a lot of work to do to regain England their international status, but he has got off to a good start with the England squad and should be impressed with the second half of the England performance.

In cricket, England have beaten New Zealand by 50 runs in another strong performance, to secure a 2-0 series win. Captain and man of the match, Collingwood, won the toss and opted to bat after successfully defending their total in Aukland. England put out an unchanged side from the previous victory, yet New Zealand stated two changes. Paul Collingwood and Owais Shah put on a partnership of 102 runs that greatly contributed to the 193-8 total in Christchurch..
In reply New Zealand only mustered 143-8 in all, fate was almost sealed after six overs when 42-3 was all that the kiwi’s had on the score board. Ryan Sidebottom was the pick of an England bowling unit who played to impress, Sidebottom taking an impressing 2 for 19.
A strong start for England and if this good form continues, the remaining five twenty20 ties could prove no test for this England side.
